Last progress update was two months ago. I have already implemented estimate editing and basic workflow, template previewing and sending of estimates by email or printing. I haven’t designed an actual template yet, it’s mostly a dummy for testing purposes, but it’ll do for now. This is a screenshot of “The Application” right now:
Ignoring the generic icons in the sidebar, this is how version 1.0 will look like. I’ll perhaps add a couple more toolbar icons. Reports, overview, transactions and pending views are still to be worked on, along with all related models.
Lately I’ve been working on the status bar, a ripoff straight from Xcode which shows status about current project and tasks. It also includes a progress bar. I’m still undecided about how to select the current project and task. Either a toolbar button that opens a popover with a list or some menu integrated in the status bar could be good choices. It’s a design decision mostly driven by amount of clicks, discoverability and easy of use.
Overall, I’m totally excited about finishing “The Application” and what that experience would bring to my future.
